Similarly, we can have a hammer-on follow a previous hammer-on, or have two pull-offs in a row. In these situations, it helps to play 3 notes per string, where we can pick our first note, and then use our hammers or pulls to play the other 2 notes on the string. In the example below, we're drawing from the A dorian scale (which is a minor scale) and playing 3 notes to a string. The difference between the first half of the example and the second half is that in the first example, we play the pattern as 8th notes (which is somewhat tricky), and in the last half, we play it as 8th note triplets, which fits a bit better with our 3 notes per string approach.
