The main thing to remember is that any combination of these patterns will sound great with any combination of two-note chords that have some relation to the key of G major or minor. Measure 1 shows a simple 3 chord progression. The middle of the example shows different ways it can be embellished using the three patterns outlined in page 3. The last part is just to show that there are a variety of possibilities of what chords to pick and what patterns to use. Play around with it and have fun! I'm off to watch the 9th inning...
